Requirements: 1. Pot must be at least 3 inches across and 5 inches tall 2. All sides must be straight and even 3. Choose a design: Pot must have 2 different design elements and one pattern repeated. 4. Sketch in your Art Notebook your pot design and get approved before beginning.

Rhythm: A principle of design that indicates movement, created by the careful placement of repeated elements in a work of art to cause a visual tempo or beat.
Balance: A way of combining elements to add a feeling of equilibrium or stability to a work of art. Major types are symmetrical and asymmetrical.
Steps: How to Make a Coil Pot: 1. Flatten piece of clay to about 1/4" thickness. Use rolling pin or a slab roller. Cut out circle for base of Coil Pot.
2. Make Coils no more than three at a time.
3. Score and slip the slab and lay the first layer of coil.
4. Push the coil into the slab. Cut first layer of coil and blend seam.
5. Smooth the inside as you go. 6. Add 3 layers of coil before adding the pattern. 7. Begin design and pattern. Between each design add 1 plain coil. Blend inside after each row.
