Requirements: 1. Box must be a minimum of 3 inches on the longest side and no larger then 6 inches 2. You must make a lid with a working handle 3. Box must have a theme 4. Handle must be specialized to go along with theme (character, animal, something specific to your box) 5. Box must have sgraffito and 3D somewhere on the lid AND the sides of the box 6. Draw out plan of box in your Art Notebooks before starting and get it approved.
Steps: 1. Before using a slab roller flatten your clay so it fits into the roller.
2. Roll your slab using the slab roller or rolling pin. (1/4 inch)
3. Use a rib tool to smooth out the canvas texture.
4. Carefully cut out 4 sides and bottom
5. Score and slip the edges and add a support coil.
6. Once you have all 4 sides up create the lid. 7. Make sure the lid fits and has a working handle or knob.

9. Make sure your initials and period are on the bottom.

Sgraffito: a form of decoration made by scratching through a surface to reveal a lower layer. Sgraffito (in Italian "to scratch") is a decorating pottery technique produced by applying layers of color or colors (underglazes or colored slips) to leather hard pottery and then scratching off parts of the layer(s) to create contrasting images, patterns and texture and reveal the clay color underneath.
